Chronic bronchitis and emphysema affect as many as 24 million American men and women. These conditions can make it very hard to breathe, which can lead to disability and even death. However, because smoking is the main cause of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, the conditions are also very preventable.

This interactive tool estimates your risk of chronic bronchitis and emphysema and provides personalized tips for prevention. Anyone can use it, but it's most accurate for people who don't already have these conditions. If you have chronic bronchitis or emphysema, be sure to talk to your doctor about your risk.

To estimate your risk of chronic bronchitis and emphysema and learn about ways to lower that risk, take a few minutes to answer some questions about your health, background, and lifestyle. We can't tell you if you'll develop these conditions or not, but we can tell you where to focus your prevention efforts-because the best way to fight chronic bronchitis and emphysema is to stop them before they start!
